A Slice of the Low Country

I have never been to the south. I grew up in Canada and when my family would travel, we would head to Europe or California. As I got older, I realized my love for travel and would take a trip every chance I could as a young adult. I love to  experience new and different cultures and getting myself out of my comfort zone, but I associated that with leaving the country and getting a stamp on my passport.

My big takeaway from my time in South Carolina is quite simple: The South is lovely and unique and beautiful. It is breathtaking. It is different than California and I loved everything about it! I was a little worried to travel there in June, as the humidity was intimidating from what I had heard.

To be honest, the weather wasn’t bad at all. The Montage is located on the water so I think that kept us a little cooler. In the heat of the day, we found ourselves in one of the many pools on the property.

The kids absolutely loved the resort. They had horseback riding, archery, a tree house, endless water sports, and bowling. There was so much to do, at the end of the week we still felt like we could spend more time there! There was so much to see.

The Montage has “Montage Merits” where the kids can earn a badge for an activity. For all the parents out there reading this, they know how genius this is!  For, even if my boys were scared to fish- they tried it because they wanted to earn that badge! At the end of our trip they earned every badge and was the first thing they showed their grandparents when they got home.
