Doug and I have been together for over 15 years. We met when I was 22 and have really grown up together. We dated for three years and moved in together once we were married. I still remember the first condo we bought. I would say over half of our furniture was hand me downs from relatives or friends.
As we have grown our family, having three boys, we also have grown several businesses and houses. Our taste has also grown. I grew up where my father worked and my mom was in charge of the household. They would have pink sheets, flower curtains, wallpaper on the ceiling if thats what my mother wanted. The home was her domain.
That just isn’t the case in my marriage. Just as Doug and I work together and I have a say in our businesses, Doug has a say in our decorating. We have never had pink sheets, and family photos seem to be in little hallways that Doug has given me the OK on.
This has been a point of compromise as as we both take great pride in our home and personal style, but Timothy Oluton has been the answer for us! The furniture has a modern perceptive while paying tribute to the past. It is the perfect blend and so Doug and I seem to love every piece!!
We were off to a date night but quite honestly, had the most fun pregaming and taking photos of our beautiful pieces from the Costa Mesa store! We were so excited to have them in our home, we couldn’t leave without a photoshoot!
Each Timothy Oulton piece is extraordinary in its own right. Handcrafted with only the best traditional techniques and fabrications, Doug and I have become such fans of the products. We first bought a chandelier for our anniversary, and fell in love with many other pieces. We would find ourselves talking about the Shabby Sectional and how we just wanted to lay in it all afternoon. Im not sure if this is a sign of becoming older but you’re here reading a blog on furniture so we find ourselves in good company!
If you live in OC you have to head over to SOCO and check out the Timothy Oulton store in Costa Mesa. It is a great date night! Doug and I ofter go and look at the furniture and then get a meal together. Last time we were in there we say the Rock Crystal Inception Mirror which made my heart happy! There is something about it that is magical and Im hoping you will be seeing it in our home soon.(*cough cough Doug). What makes something beautiful is the attention it is given, and that mirror is handmade by three people for over a month! The magic and beauty is something you have to see in person.
