I have been doing a bible study* the past 3 months on 1 and 2 Thessalonians.
There is this concept of “Walking with the Lord’ and 1 Thessalonians 2:12 jumped out to me.
It says, “We encourage, comforted, and implored each one of you to Walk worthy of God, who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.”
This concept of walking with the Lord grabbed hold of my heart and I started to think about it. As Christians, many times people will ask you, “How is your walk with God going?” I am beginning to realize that this is not “Christianiese” but a real biblical concept!
All throughout the bible we read and hear about walking with God. The bible starts in Genesis with the Lord walking in the garden with Adam and Eve (Gen 3:8) and ends in Revelation with Jesus walking with his church. (Revelation 2:1)
There are countless verses describing God’s people walking with Him. There are many promises of God assuring us He walks with us. As I read more and more and picture my life, I am beginning to discover that our faith and our walk is a journey. Perhaps that is why God chose the concept of walking when describing His relationship with us. It is a big adventure and we get to experience it walking with him.
As our days are longer and summer is upon us, we love to take family strolls before dinner. These moments are my favorite part of the day. Our boys usually scoot in front of Doug and I, and we walk our baby. I know these are the moments I will look back on and treasure. We are all together as a family. Nothing of great significance happens on these walks, we are all just together.
I think the same is true with God. Being aware of His presence in our everyday moments. Knowing He is walking with us on this field of life and just walking with Him, treasuring His presence just because He is with us. When things are beautiful, when times are tough. When it is worship or work, He is there in our midst. To live constantly God-aware, to me, is walking with the Lord and makes every day, every laugh or tear worthwhile. It makes everything matter.

such a beautiful photo of most of the family running on the beach – love the dog with you – just missing Roman. Yes, walking with HIM is the best – and keeping HIM close. Love that HE is my BEST FRIEND.

Such a great post Lydia. I’ve become a huge fan of you since RHOC and recently bought your book and read it in just a few days. I’ve passed it onto my sisters and hope it touches their hearts as it has mine. God bless!
