Marilyn Monroe says, “I’m not going to let my lack of confidence ruin my chances” and she is Marilyn Monroe! Everyone struggles with confidence and some people are better at pushing it aside or using it to their advantage.
As the saying goes, “A flower does not think of competing to the flower next to it, it just blooms.” I think sometimes, especially woman, we can get into own own heads and compare ourselves to others and diminish our own confidence. (See previous blog post on comparison and staying in own own lane)
I have been fortune enough to be surrounded by very successful people in my life. In all walks of life, all different fields I see that those people are all successful in their own right, but as I got to know them and talk to them, they all have had struggles. They have all had people tell them no or push them aside, or doubting at some point. That is part of the human experience. Nothing is handed to anyone and it is up to ourselves to believe and achieve our goals. Michelle Obama once said, “Your success will be determined by your own confidence and fortitude.”
We have to believe in ourselves! There really is no such thing as an overnight success or a perfect person. We all have been given these different gifts and passions and paths and it is up to us to make our dreams come true, be confident and comfortable in our own skin and be free to be ourselves and shine our light. I write a lot about this in my book if you are interested check it out here.
