I get all sorts of people reaching out to me on social media. I think I am a familiar face, but also I am perhaps a safe place because I have no real ties to someones real life. I try to read all my Dms, even from strangers. I get a few randoms trolling, wanting to be mean to pass the time or maybe to somehow spread the bittiness that overflows from their hearts, but for the most part, I get so much love.
I am grateful for the community of my blog and social media. It is a real community and I treasure the connection. My fear though is that people are somehow using the connection of social media and our phones to take the place of real relationships. There is something about being known. To be seen. It is important for you to have people in your life that can just take one look at you and know the mood you are in.
Life can be so sweet and can also be salty. That is the nature of the journey and it is important to have people that go through the ebbs and flows with you. It is also important to look up from our phones and be present and in the moment.
I took my boys to the park and left my phone in the car. Just having these 30 mins or so to be present and look at the trees and my kids playing was the hi light of my day.
I hope today we can all be a light. We can shine our love to the people God puts in front of us and be present in the little moments of our day. To make connections with the people in our paths and connect and spread love. You matter. You can make a difference today. Set your intention on things that are good and lets change the world together!
