Its a new year! Time to celebrate and also time to create new habits. What a great opportunity and fresh start! That is something to celebrate and be excited about in my book.
We have found ourselves back into our routines and life in 2019. We have goals and expectations for the year, and all that is great and important. We have shared perhaps our “Word for the Year” and claimed it for ourselves. Or, perhaps we have given up something, made promises to ourselves on how to be better…. I have done all of these things and I think they are important to do: reflect and grow. Meet with ourselves and figure out ways to be better. I love all of that.
I would love to encourage that we also add to our routine a bit of stillness. As my Pastor put it at church on Sunday, “Jam the dysfunction of our culture and be still and know…” Really think about that. Our culture has this buzz, this pulse of rushing and it causes us anxiousness and uneasiness and disconnects us. I believe it disconnects us from ourselves and God and each other.
God is giving us unforced rhymes of grace and we need to slow down and breath and experience his presence. It is full of love and joy. Insight and grace. Growth and peace. To just be still and connect to the Maker of this whole thing. Mark 6:31 says: “Come with me by yourself to a quiet place and get some rest.”
That is my hope for myself and for you sweet friend- in 2019 and beyond. Happy New Year! xoxo
